CAPS Designation Requirements
In order to maintain the highest professional standards, CAPS designation requires:
Attendance at all classes is required
Each applicant must have two (2) years of multi-site supervision experiences to achieve the CAPS designation. CAM, ARM or RAM designates may use their designation in good standing with two years industry experience to fulfill the CAPS experience requirement.
This course shows students how to go beyond day-to-day management and enter the world of team leadership. Topics covered: leadership versus management, the emotionally intelligent leader, employee engagement, feedback and coaching, and teambuilding.
This course is a comprehensive survey of employment, rental and contract law affecting the multifamily housing industry, as well as a review of key environmental and safety regulations. This course also includes a brief section to help students establish and execute an effective risk management program for your apartment communities.
This course will help students become fluent in the financial concepts, terminology, formulas, and ratios commonly used in the multifamily housing industry. The emphasis is on showing students how to maximize income and manage expenses at their properties.
This course teaches students how to ensure that your property/properties are performing at or above the expectations set in the management agreement business plan. It introduces learners to the key operational and service measures used in the industry and shows you how to write a clear and compelling owner’s report.
This course covers the various processes: property inspections, financial and operational audits, and regional and neighborhood analyses you will complete to help an owner or company acquire, sell or renovate a property.

CAPS module fees and registration deadlines are indicated above. Registration fees must be paid prior to each registration deadline in order to receive text material and attend classes. Cancellations must be in writing. Cancellations received one month prior to individual course module will receive a full refund; received three weeks prior, a 75% refund; received two weeks prior, a 50% refund; received one week prior, a 25% refund; and cancellations received less than one week prior will not be entitled to any refund.
