CDC Extends Eviction Moratorium to March 31

COVID-19 Resource Center, TAA News & Updates,

Late yesterday, President Biden issued an Executive Order directing the CDC to extend its eviction moratorium through March 31. The current order was set to expire on January 31. Biden's Executive Order does not alter the current rules in place in the CDC moratorium, beyond extending the timeline for the protections.

NAA and NMHC released a joint statement in response that can be found here

Biden had earlier proposed an eviction moratorium through the end of September as part of his "American Rescue Plan," and incoming CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has promised a review of the current CDC order in anticipation of potential changes. Given these circumstances, look out for more news on the eviction front in the coming weeks.
