We need your feedback! Where should our legislative efforts be focused for 2019?

The Apartment Association of North Carolina, together with the Triangle Apartment Association, has influenced legislation and public policy throughout North Carolina by partnering with governmental agencies, government officials, and municipalities.  Last year, based on feedback from members and development from the AANC Government Affairs Committee, AANC worked on the following key issues at the North Carolina General Assembly:

• Reforming Landlord Liability
• Legalizing Private Process Servers
• Expanding Affordable Housing

Of course, in addition to the “offensive” issues listed above, AANC and TAA successfully passed “defensive” legislation to protect our members from harmful changes to the way eviction-related costs are assessed.  Read more about those successful efforts here.

As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts, we have developed a survey so that we can hear from you about the issues affecting your business and our industry.  The results from this survey will serve as the foundation for the development of our legislative and policy agendas for next year, giving both members and government officials an outline of the Association’s advocacy plans moving forward.
