Every day we communicate and interact – with residents, clients, colleagues, family and even strangers. During those interactions, choices are often made based on preconceived ideas, previous experiences, or a certain mindset. In many cases, the choices we make and how we communicate determine whether we are successful!

Join Johann in a facilitated learning experience to explore and unpack some myths about unconscious bias and how it affects our choices. Start to understand how our brains process information and how that influences our perspectives, interactions, and human connections.

During this session we’ll work through the following questions in small groups and have real dialog regarding:

  • What is bias? Is it real? Is it bad?
  • Why do people have bias and does everyone really have it?
  • Does having bias make me a bad person?
  • Are there different types of bias?
  • Do our biases really affect our relationships?
  • Can a person do something to get rid of bias?
