The Triangle Apartment Association (TAA) Leadership Lyceum program identifies and develops admirable, highly motivated, and committed multifamily housing individuals for future volunteer leadership roles and opportunities with TAA. 

The Lyceum Program is a collaborative four-month program that will bring together professional candidates of varying backgrounds. Together, these candidates will learn the qualities of an effective leader, analyze individual leadership roles, and develop personal leadership styles, skills, and the confidence to grow as volunteer leaders within our industry and the association for future leadership roles.

Who is Eligible to Participate? The TAA Leadership Lyceum program invites members who wish to develop their leadership skills and further their Apartment Association (TAA) involvement. There is a maximum of 30 candidates, 23 Owner/Operators, and 7 Vendor Partners (TAA Suppliers Partners, one team member per company). The TAA 7 Vendor Partner Seats, are SOLD OUT!  

Requirements:

 Attendance Required:

  • Candidates must complete the entire curriculum program and requirements to attain a certificate.
  • Attend One TAA Board Meeting in March, April, or May (Candidates must attend a TAA Board meeting by May to graduate in June).

 Curriculum:

  • February 29, 2024 - (Virtual) 10:00AM - 11:30AM -  Introduction to the John C Maxwell Method of DISC and The Power of Strengths-Based Leadership. Following this session, each leader will receive a link to complete their online assessments for both DISC and Clifton Strengths. 
  •  March 20, 2024 - (In-Person) 9:00AM - 12:00PM - Leverage your DISC Style. Everyone you encounter is motivated differently, communicates differently, and views tasks and relationships differently. The Maxwell DISC Profile session will help you to be a more effective leader and communicate more effectively with your team.
  • 1:00PM - 4:00PM - Leverage Your Strengths to Be a More Effective Leader of Self and Others. Interactive session focused on the balconies and basements of each leader’s strengths. Understand and leverage the Four Leadership Domains for a more effective, well-rounded, and high-performing team.
  •  April 11, 2024 - (in Person) 9:00AM - 11:00AM Legislative Advocacy 
  •  May 9, 2024 - (In Person) 9:00AM - 12:00PM -The Five Dysfunctions of Team. By identifying the root causes of poor teamwork, leaders can develop specific strategies for overcoming each. 
  • 1:00PM - 4:00PM - The Leadership Game. The Leadership Game is an interactive game that allows everyone to engage in thought-provoking questions and discussion that gets to the heart of the matter in a short period, helping everyone raise their leadership lid!
  •  May 15, 2024 - (In-Person) 9:00AM -11:00AM  Association Management / Leadership 
  •  June 12, 2024 - Graduation

                 Your TAA Leadership Lyceum Facilitators

Stephanie Puryear-Helling of SPH Services, LLC, will lead participants through the Maxwell DISC and StrengthsFinder introduction and assessments; and the four half-day sessions, Leverage your DISC Style, Leverage Your Strengths to Be a More Effective Leader of Self and Others, The Five Dysfunctions of Team, and The Leadership Game.

Stephanie has 25+ years in the property management industry and has proven to be a reliable and effective executive leader, coach, and facilitator, bringing a vision-driven approach to leading people and teams to success. She is the Past President of the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI). Prior to her presidency, She served on the NAA Leadership Advisory Board, helping to form a strategic partnership with the Gallup organization and NAAEI to develop an industry-specific executive leadership program. Stephanie completed the NAA Executive Leadership Program powered by Gallup several years ago and has facilitated National Apartment Association Credentialing Courses, Strengths Based Leadership Sessions, Keynote Presentations, and Leadership Development Programs.
