The Triangle Apartment Association (TAA) Leadership Lyceum program identifies and develops admirable, highly motivated, and committed multifamily housing individuals for future volunteer leadership roles and opportunities with TAA.
The Lyceum Program is a collaborative five-month program that will bring together professional candidates of varying backgrounds. Together, these candidates will learn the qualities of an effective leader, analyze individual leadership roles, and develop personal leadership styles, skills, and the confidence to grow as volunteer leaders within our industry and the association for future leadership roles.
Who is Eligible to Participate? The TAA Leadership Lyceum program invites members who wish to develop their leadership skills and expand their involvement with the Apartment Association (TAA). There is a maximum of 36 candidates, 23 Owner/Operators, and 14 Vendor Partners (TAA Supplier Partners, two team members per company).
Requirements:
- The program application must be completed and submitted by Tuesday, February 3. Click here to download the Leadership Lyceum application.
- Must be a TAA member in good standing
Attendance Required:
- Candidates must complete the curriculum program and meet the requirements to attain a certificate.
- Attend one TAA Board Meeting in February, March, April, May, or June (Candidates must attend a TAA Board meeting by June to graduate).
Curriculum:
- February 17, 2026 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 12:30PM - The Leadership Lyceum Orientation & Maxwell Method of DISC: This orientation will lay the foundation for a successful Leadership Lyceum class of 2026. It will feature an introduction by John C. Maxwell, focusing on the importance of adopting an abundance mindset. We will also provide an overview of the course syllabus and the Individual Development Plan (IDP).
- February 17, 2026 - DISC Assessment: Following the orientation DISC session, each candidate leader will receive a code and a link to complete the DISC assessment. Each candidate leader will be provided with a copy of their assessment.
- March 10, 2026 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:30PM - Discover Your Strengths with PowerDISC: In this full-day workshop, leverage your DISC style to be a more effective leader and communicate more effectively with your team. Each candidate should bring their results and completed action steps to this workshop.
- March 20, 2026 - (Webinar) 10:00AM - 11:30AM - Introduction to the Power of Strengths-Based Leadership: This 90-minute webinar will introduce Clifton Strengths and why leaders should take a strength-based approach to leadership.
- March 20, 2026 - Clifton Strengths Assessment: Following the webinar session, each candidate leader will receive a link to complete their online assessment. Results will be sent to SPH Services and to each candidate leader.
- April 14, 2026 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:00PM - Strengths-Based Leadership: Leverage Your Strengths to Be a More Effective Leader of Self and Others. An interactive session focused on the balconies and basements of each candidate leader’s strengths. Understand and leverage the Four Leadership Domains for a more effective, well-rounded, and high-performing team.

- May 6, 2026 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:30AM - Individual Development Plan Review & The Leadership Game Experience: The Leadership Game is an interactive game that allows everyone to engage in thought-provoking questions and discussions that get to the heart of the matter in a short period, helping everyone raise their leadership lid!
- May 20, 2026 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:30PM - The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: Through identifying the root causes of poor teamwork, leaders can develop specific strategies for overcoming each of them.
- June 4, 2026 - (Webinar) 10:00AM - 11:30AM - Capstone Prep Webinar: This webinar aims to empower candidates in delivering impactful capstone presentations. In this session, we will clarify the purpose and structure of the Capstone project, as well as best practices for crafting a focused three-minute presentation. Participants will reflect on their Leadership Lyceum journey, sharing valuable lessons learned that have enhanced their leadership abilities.

Your TAA Leadership Lyceum Program Facilitators
Stephanie Puryear-Helling of SPH Services, LLC, will lead participants through the Maxwell DISC and StrengthsFinder introduction and assessments; and the four- sessions, Leverage your DISC Style, Leverage Your Strengths to Be a More Effective Leader of Self and Others, The Five Dysfunctions of Team, and The Leadership Game.
Stephanie has over 25 years of experience in the property management industry. She has proven to be a reliable and effective executive leader, coach, and facilitator, bringing a vision-driven approach to leading people and teams to success. She previously served as the President of the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) and was also a member of the NAA Leadership Advisory Board. During her tenure, she played a key role in forming a strategic partnership between the Gallup organization and NAAEI to develop an industry-specific executive leadership program. Stephanie completed the NAA Executive Leadership Program powered by Gallup several years ago and has since facilitated National Apartment Association Credentialing Courses, Strengths-Based Leadership Sessions, Keynote Presentations, and Leadership Development Programs.
TAA Government Affairs Director will lead the Legislative Advocacy session.
Josie Eatmon, TAA Executive Director, CAE, and Suzanne Pratt, TAA Director of Professional Development, NAAEI Faculty, will lead the Association Management & Leadership sessions.
