What did winning a TOPS Award mean to you personally?
Personally, winning a TOPS Award meant that I had achieved a level of success and consistency in my role at Greystar that it was being recognized by others! That kind of recognition felt so empowering.
How has receiving a TOPS Award impacted your career or professional growth?
More than anything, it's given me a tremendous sense of confidence to advocate for myself, my goals, and my career trajectory.
What would you say to someone who is considering nominating a coworker – or submitting a nomination for their team/community?
DO IT. If nothing else, nominating someone is a great opportunity to self-reflect and think about how you have performed in similar situations or roles. It's a chance to reexamine what excellence means to you!
What makes the multifamily industry special to you?
The multifamily industry is a uniquely personal business. We get the privilege (and responsibility) to spend a huge amount of time with our residents - we become a part of the fabric of their lives. We interact with them in a more consistent way than almost any other business in their lives. Our successes, failures, and empathy in every choice that we make affect and color so much of their day-to-day experiences.
Tell us about the moment your name was announced. What was going through your mind?
I had so much negativity going on in my personal life at that time, I couldn't believe it. It was such a blessing!
Who helped you get to where you are today?
My wife, my coworkers, and my residents.
